UNICEF Leadership - Executive Directors
Since 1946, UNICEF Executive Directors have been appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General in consultation with the Executive Board. All have served for at least two five-year terms. Ann M. Veneman is UNICEF's Fifth and current Executive Director, and was appointed on May 1st, 2005.
